Finally - we have met!!
LOL - after 5 years of talking on the phone and being great friends...Angela (teeebooo) came to visit in NY. It was great!! We had a wonderful (and busy) time. I have to say, it was almost surreal - as we have talked for so long...seeing her face to face and getting to hang out and have fun was wonderful!!
Angela came in on Thursday late afternoon...after fun airplane delays...and we took it pretty easy that evening. In typical NY fashion...we decided we were hungry around 11:30 pm...and headed to the diner. Gotta love fries w/cheese & gravy (haha..what diet??)
Friday morning was pretty lazy..and we decided to go visit a work friend in CT....not realizing how far away she actually was. We left here around noon and didn't get to Manchester until after 2pm..had lunch then headed back around 4. Traffic was a bit annoying and I was getting a bit tense..as we had Broadway tickets to see "Company" and I was more than nervous about not making it on time! This was our view for most of Friday -
Traffic on the Merrit Parkway
But yeah! We did make it...and got to catch our breath a bit on the train....
Look at this nutty gal on the train!
The show was amazing! I didn't know anything about COMPANY, but it was wonderful!!! My boss had told me that there wasn't an orchestra pit..they were onstage , but I didn't realize the orchastra members were also the cast...and wow - it blew me away. Especially the woman who played Amy. My main instrument I play is the French Horn...and this woman could play it walking around in high heels! It is hard enough to play sitting (as your hand is placed in the bell) but walking - LOL...and they she also played at least 3 other instruments. Almost all the members of the cast played multiple instruments...it was so cool! Actors on Broadway are always talented..but to be able to sing, dance, act and be the orchestra as well....WOW!! Oh, and the other very cool thing....Glenn Close was sitting in the seat behind us. We were commenting on the conversation we were hearing before the show started. A woman was talking about the "work" she was doing and going to hair and make-up...(being in NY, I have heard that conversation more than once, but usually it is someone unknown). The show had not started as of 8:15 and people started clapping - a voice from the back told us someone had died and to be patient...at that point I turned around to see was what going on, and the person behind me looked a bit familiar! I leaned over and whispered to Angela. We were both shocked, and no - we did not get her autograph. A few people did go up to her, but my thought is that she is probably bothered enough...I will let her enjoy her evening. So we sat there calmly...we each had to text message a friend, and then - enjoyed the show!
Saturday we were really lazy - went to lunch about 2pm...and then headed into the city. Angela wanted to see the Museum of Natural History..but oops - we didn't realize it closed at 5:45...and we didn't get into the city until around 4:30. And then got a stupid cab driver who didint' know where it was, and since I couldn't remember either - was obilvious to the fact he dropped us on the east side rather than the west...so we took a quick stroll across Central Park - but Angela did get a couple lovely pictures! She was tourist!
It was a beautiful day..so the walk was nice. We made it to the museum and basically ran thru with Angela taking pictures to show her daughters...but it is very cool - I will have to go back sometime and take my time going thru.
Saturday night we met a couple of my friends at a bar/restaurant in White Plains. We had a good time...goofy people to hang out with make and evening fly by quickly. We left there around 11 and I drug Angie to my local bar for a drink.
We were a bit worried about her being able to get home on Sunday - as they were having a lovely blizzard in WI...but Sunday morning we headed to breakfast at the diner - they a quick packing of clothes/goodies for the kids...and off to the airport. And yes..she made it home.
I had a wonderful weekend..and that is it in a nutshell. I guess I will have to make it to Wisconsin one of these days...or talk her into coming back for another fun NY weekend! Isn't it fun to have good friends!

What fun! I'd recognize that LIRR train anywhere... don't you just love the headrests on those new trains? I so have to fight myself not to doze off on the way home from the city and risk missing my stop. Haven't done it yet, but know it's probably in the cards!
